Daddy 4th Of July

I cannot believe it’s already the Fourth of July.

I’ve been looking forward to this holiday for so long that it doesn’t even seem real that it could be happening. All I’ve thought about over the last several months is watching big, beautiful red, white, and blue fireworks. The Fourth is also the only time I spend with my stepfather’s family and friends. Although, after recent events—that will probably change.

I’m also super excited for today because my stepdad will finally let me drink alcohol even though I’m only nineteen. I mean, obviously, I’ve had it before, as soon as I started high school, in fact. But Daddy has never let me drink in front of him. As far as my stepfather knows, I’m still his perfect little angel who never breaks one of his rules.

Tonight though, I’ll need all the liquor-fueled confidence I can get.
